Longform

CRUMBS guide to making better longforms...
CRUMBS have been travelling the world spreading the ideas and techniques of longform improv and along the way they have guided and infected many groups with the freedom of longform. Every year the tools grow and expand as the art form develops. We can take your existing form and elevate it to amazing, or we can work with a group that has never done longform before and introduce you to the wonder. We attack the core scene building techniques and fuse it with concepts of editing. We can work with you to help build a brand new format or we can introduce you to new formats that are out there. This workshop will bring your work to the next level.

Scenes

CRUMBS gives you the power to play better scenes...
CRUMBS will attack your scenes, and your scenes will come out stronger. The scene work is the basic building block of any show. You can have a dazzling format, but if your scenes suck, the show suffers. We show you how you can create your scenes moment by moment. We can instill techniques that get you out of your head and onto the stage. We can get you discovering more and inventing less. We can isolate the skills for storytelling, finding the game, status and for having more emotionally rooted scenes. We will bring form and content together. Your scenes will get better, your work will get better.

Character

CRUMBS gives you the tools to play better characters...
CRUMBS will build characters with you, characters that we will all care about. If your scenes have characters that people care about, the scenes will write themselves. We take you through several different character creation exercises, games and formats that allows you to fully realize character. We ask the right questions and allow you to ask the right questions to make your characters deeper and more full. Then we can figure out what stories these characters need to tell.

Editing

CRUMBS reveals the secrets of great editing...
When is a scene over? When does a scene start? How do I get out of a scene that is over? How do I change what is happening in a scene when I don't like it? How do I affectively use editing to tell the story? What does the editing tell me about the story? These are some of the questions we explore in this workshop. How do we tap into the natural rhythm of the scene to realize when we should be making our transitions and what transitions best fit the moment? CRUMBS will have you feeling the moment and creating opportunities to create new ways to transition. Timing isn't something you are taught, it is something you feel.
